Bungalow Native Landscape Demonstration Garden
Demonstration Garden Education Program
CITIZENS utilizes its Demonstration Garden as a living classroom to educate volunteers, students, and community members about native plants, tree care, sustainable gardening, and Florida-Friendly landscaping practices.
The garden models water-wise and environmentally responsible design, including a rainwater cistern, drip irrigation system, composting, full-site mulching, and the elimination of turf grass. These features demonstrate how reducing irrigation, conserving water, and incorporating native species improve water quality, support wildlife habitat, and reduce long-term economic and environmental costs.
With grant support, CITIZENS will expand community outreach and landscape demonstrations to surrounding neighborhoods, with a focus on increasing access and engagement in nearby Little Havana communities.
