Kiki worked as a Natural Resource Volunteer in Bolivia from 1999- 2001. As part of continuing her education Ms. Mutis has attended the Biodiversity Assessment and Monitoring for Adaptive Management Course, and the Environmental Leadership course offered by the Smithsonian Institution.
Over the past fifteen years Kiki has worked on a variety of environmental education programs with the Marjory Stoneman Biscayne Nature Center, Students for Environmental Action, and the Public Interest Research group.
Since 2004 she has been an active Member of the Return Peace Corps Volunteers of South Florida; where she serves as a Board Member of The Colombia Project, a micro credit program to help Colombians who have been displaced by the violence to gain their lives back by establishing small businesses. Kiki also volunteers with other RPCV events such as organizing the annual Everglades National Park Trip for migrant farm workers children and children living in homeless shelters.
Kiki has been a loyal volunteer over the last four years with the Miami Children’s Hospital Craniofacial group. As a volunteer for the MCH Craniofacial Group, she organizes activities for the annual Summer Camp, plans and guides field trips to natural areas to give the children the self confidence they need to succeed as members of society. Kiki is a role model for the children and young adults who have Neurofibromatosis and other craniofacial conditions that often time hinders the self-confidence of an individual.
She truly believes that despite life’s challenges each individual can and should work hard to make a better and more peaceful society.
