Over
60 people attended the successful tree and native garden planting
and park beautification event at the Belafonte Tacolcy Center
in Model City. With the help of volunteers from around the community,
local colleges and high schools, local government and professionals,
over 124 plants were planted at the park. At the beginning of
the event, Citizens staff and the City of Miami Mayor gave a brief
presentation. Attendees learned about native species, proper planting
techniques, and about the social and environmental benfits of
planting an urban tree canopy.
