Citizens hosted
students from South Miami High for the Fairchild
Challenge Immersion Day to work on a long-term restoration
project on Virginia Key. The Fairchild Challenge is an annual,
environmental education competition hosted by Fairchild Tropical
Botanic Garden. Students compete through science projects, environmental
research, ecology, fine arts, photojournalism, graphic design,
gardening, habitat restoration, community outreach, creative writing,
research projects, foreign languages, debate, ethnobotany, film
making, ecology and other disciplines.
