Bonus: This dense evergreen tree provides good shade and, with its high salt tolerance, is a good candidate for beachfront plantings. The fruit is attractive to birds and other native wildlife, and the attractive yellow and green spotted leaves can be scratched and written on with a fingernail, leaving the signature on the tree for a long time...hence the name Autograph Tree!

Why not the Indian Almond?

The Indian Almond is classified as a controlled landscape plant that may not be planted within 500 feet of a native plant community. Additionally, the Indian Almond does not provide food for native wildlife and has very soft, brittle wood.
