December 2005
In December, Citizens worked the Florida Sea Grant and volunteers to installing nine outdoor recycling bins for anglers to discard used fishing line at Morningside Park, Legion Park and Tropical Park. Fifteen Eagle and Boy Scout volunteers, led by Cedric Jerabeck, constructed and installed the bins. The volunteers learned about Biscayne Bay, impacts on water quality and land use, and the hazards improperly discarded fishing line pose to our marine ecosystems.

October 1, 2005
Citizens hosted a fishing line recycling bin installation event at Morningside Park in honor of the University of Miami-sponsored Mahatma Gandhi’s “Be the Change” day of service. The volunteers installed one recycling bin and learned about Biscayne Bay.
