Citizens,
in collaboration with the SFWMD planned, designed, and hosted
the "Aquatic" station at Miami-Dade County Public School's
annual Envirothon competition. We divided the station into 5 "substations"
focusing on stormwater, non-point source pollution, and water
quality monitoring parameters and their indication of ecosystem
health. 250 students from high schools across Miami-Dade and Monroe
counties passed through the station and were tested on the aquatic
station material. Additionally, Citizens and the SFWMD gave students
a brief presentation on water quality monitoring to teach the
students the process and its relation to water quality monitoring
parameters.
