Citizens
took CSW students from Virrick Park to the Deering Estate to participate
in DERM's annual Baynanza Biscayne Bay cleanup. The students picked
up several garbage bags worth of trash, with one small student
even carrying a tire from the shore to a trash dropoff. Afterward,
Citizens hosted a watershed pollution booth using the Enviroscape
Coastal module at Commissioner Sorenson's post-Baynanza earth
day celebration. Festival attendees that visited the booth learned
about how land based pollution can affect our marine environment
and our drinking water resources.
